This just hasn’t worked out for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Believe it or not, because it’s hard to remember this now, Jason Huntley was actually a fifth-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft. Sure, you’d probably need Google’s assistance to even know that because he was a Detroit Lions pick, but it’s all good. Some of you probably had your mind on other things, like the fact that the Eagles selected John Hightower just a few spots earlier with the 168th-overall selection.

All that was said to say this. If you totally whiffed on the announcement of a five-foot-nine and 193-pound tailback heading to Motown, don’t beat yourself up too badly. No one cared about that at the time.

Fast forward a few months from the end of April to the beginning of September, and the Lions would decide to waive Huntley during final roster cuts. Now, if the five-foot-nine and 193-pound frame on a man that plays football’s most punishing position didn’t sway the Eagles, maybe the fact that he wasn’t even good enough to make the Lions roster should have been.

It makes no difference one way or another because Philly swooped in (pun intended) and claimed Huntley off of waivers a day later. Since then, he’s carried the ball three times for 14 yards. He won’t be on this roster in 2021.
