. . . Quez Watkins, wide receiver. . player. 54

Quez Watkins has yet to play 30 snaps for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Remember those old X-Men cartoons and how Jubilee always used to have to stay behind at Charles Xavier’s School for the Gifted while Professor X sent Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, and everybody else on that big blue plane to go carry out all of the important missions?

That’s got to be how Quez Watkins feels every time game day arrives and his name is on the inactive list when everyone knows that the team is fully aware of the fact that he’s totally healthy.

After playing five offensive snaps in Week 5, roughly eight percent, Week 6 arrived, and he exploded for 15 snaps versus the Baltimore Ravens (21 percent in that game). He has yet to register a catch as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. Who cares about all of that speed if he can’t get open or get on the field?

Every year since 2016, we’ve all said the same thing. ‘The Philadelphia Eagles need wide receivers’. From 2017 to 2020, if you throw out the Greg Ward roller-coaster ride, Philly has added about eight free agents at the wide receiver position, six wideouts via the draft, and about six undrafted free agents right after the selection meeting. They even added Marquise Goodwin via trade on the third day of 2020’s NFL Draft and Golden Tate at the trade deadline back in 2018. Nothing has worked.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, believe it or not, Philly will be back in the market for a wide receiver next year during the selection meeting. Keep in mind the fact that the expectation is this team will move on from DeSean Jackson, Alshon Jeffery, and JJ Arcega-Whiteside during 2021’s offseason. Seeing as how he can barely get on the field now, that’s bad news for Watkins.
