5 Worst Philadelphia Eagles draft picks during Howie Roseman’s era
Philadelphia Eagles fans may never forgive Howie Roseman for JJAW.
5. JJ Arcega-Whiteside, Wide Receiver
Oh, come on, everyone knew this list wouldn’t be complete without the one and only JJ Arcega-Whiteside. In Eagles lore, Whiteside will always be remembered because of who they ignored to land him, but in truth, he’s on this list because of his own merit or lack thereof. He just isn’t a very good player. These days, he’s a healthy scratch on game day, and he’s had no impact for the Eagles since he’s been here.
Whiteside had some intriguing traits when everyone was introduced to him before the 2019 season, two of them being his size and catch radius. Once upon a time, he was looked at as a potential Alshon Jeffery replacement. Things haven’t panned out that way, and it doesn’t help that there are receivers who were taken after him, DK. Metcalf for instance, who have had an impact. We won’t pour any more salt into that wound though.
Howie Roseman has had some success in the draft, and not all of his picks or picks that came during two of his runs as Eagles general manager turned out terrible. There have been more duds than studs though, especially as of late. Roseman’s poor drafting has placed a dark cloud over this team’s future and has eliminated any chance of success over the past few seasons.
Howie Roseman has gone on record several times about the fact that managing the draft has been his favorite part of his job, but it has to come to a point where Eagles’ Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie must step in. Roseman is failing at his job, and hopefully, Mr. Lurie will exact some change ahead of the 2021 season, even if that means forcing Howie to find someone to help him evaluate talent.
