The Philadelphia Eagles’ new head coach hire also brings concerns.

Con: This is a huge task for a seasoned coach, let alone a rookie.

If one of the main tasks discussed during the coaching interviews was fixing Carson Wentz, a tall order was given to a new coach. Considering the reports that Wentz is ‘uncoachable,’ this is a big ask of any leader, no matter the experience.

Wentz had a record-setting regression in 2020 and one of the worst in NFL history. Not only does Sirianni have to deal with a quarterback issue, but he is also going to have to work to repair some of the locker room cohesion that this team may have lost in Doug Pederson‘s final season.

Con: This roster needs to be reconstructed.

Sirianni is also going to be dealing with what’s still one of the oldest rosters in the league. Most would agree that the thought of Roseman still being here is scary, but that’s the situation, one that a rookie head coach is walking into.

This is easier said than done. Many aging veterans on this roster have massive contracts that will take some time to heal from financially. Half of the offensive line and half of the defensive line are over 30. The secondary still needs a rebuild, and they are still missing a true number one receiver. Did we mention that there’s work to do?
