. . . DeSean Jackson. 10. player. 54

The Philadelphia Eagles’ love and hate relationship with D-Jax continues.

There’s no denying the fact that the angst Birds fans have hurled in DeSean Jackson‘s direction stem from the frustration of watching this team play and the disappointment of knowing D-Jax’s grand return hasn’t gone according to plan.

Those bombs from Carson Wentz to 10 in Week 1 of the 2019 season seem like they were 20 years ago. Since then, there have been more lows than highs.

The eyeball test and the stats tell us that, whether we’ve watched as fans of the team that he’s played on or as distant admirers (Jackson took a five-year sabbatical from The City of Brotherly Love to go play for Washington and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers), this is the best deep-threat in the history of the NFL, but there’s another side to D-Jax’s story.

10 has an argument for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but during his 13-year career, he’s only been able to complete a full 16-game schedule twice. He just turned 34 in December, and with that being said, the fact of the matter is this.

DeSean Jackson is still good enough to flash and look like the DeSean Jackson Eagles fans used to know now and again (see that 2021 game in Arlington for evidence), but he’s never going to be the guy Philly fans thought they had a chance of getting when he rejoined this team on March 13th of 2019. There’s no shame in that though. This guy has had a great career.
