. . . Patrick Robinson, 2017. . player. 54

Most Philadelphia Eagles fans just hoped P-Rob could stay healthy and contribute.

After being sidelined for most of the previous season in Indianapolis, Patrick Robinson found himself in Philadelphia for the 2017 campaign. The questions were about his health and whether or not he could stay healthy. Philly’s executive vice president and general manager Howie Roseman gave ‘P-Rob’ a chance, and boy, did he make the most of it.

Robinson quickly put those doubts about him to rest and became a key piece in the secondary. He played both inside and outside, but most of his success came while playing in the slot.

After crafting an impressive stat line (47 tackles, four picks, 18 defended passes, one sack, and one fumble recovery), Robinson had arguably the biggest play of that season’s NFC Champion Game.

After the Minnesota Vikings marched down the field on the opening drive and scored a touchdown, they looked like the team that would take control in this one. That is until Chris Long got to Case Keenum and altered the flight of a passing attempt. Robinson snagged it, and took it 50 yards, to the house.

That pick-six lit a fire underneath the Eagles and seemingly, minus one drive (one that ended in a sack-fumble), erased all of the momenta that Minnesota had. Philly went on to win this one by a 38-7 margin and advanced to the Super Bowl, where they would defeat the New England Patriots.

Robinson would return to New Orleans, following that magical season. The Saints signed him to a four-year deal. While Philly fans were sad to see him go, they understood. It probably wasn’t wise to invest long-term in an older player, one with a history of being injured, but there isn’t a Birds fan alive that will forget what Robinson did in 2017.
