Walter Thurmond was pretty good for the Philadelphia Eagles (for a season anyway).

This former Seattle Seahawk also found some success in Philly. It almost seems necessary to mention Walter Thurmond after mentioning Michael Bennett.

Thurmond spent four seasons in Seattle before a year with the rival New York Giants brought him to Philly. Thurmond and Bennett weren’t teammates in Philly, but they did share the field in Seattle albeit for a single season in 2013.

Thurmond was never able to recreate the success he found in his four years with the Hawks, except for a brief stint in The City of Brotherly Love. Following his run with the Giants, Thurmond crossed enemy lines, signed with the Eagles, and in his lone season with the Birds, he started all 16 games.

The numbers speak for themselves. He racked up 71 tackles, three picks, two forced fumbles, one forced fumble, and two sacks. One of his biggest plays would come versus New York. With Philly down by six in the third quarter, Thurmond picked off Eli Manning pass and took that one 83 yards to pay dirt.

Surprisingly, after becoming a free agent and following his resurgent season, teams weren’t eager to sign him. The lack of offers would lead Thurmond to early retirement, making his lone season with the Eagles his final ride, and what a ride it was.
