. . Round 3: Trey Sermon, Ohio State. . player. 812.

The Philadelphia Eagles get a little better on offense in Round 3.

Okay, here’s a serious question. Did you see that contest between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Northwestern Wildcats in the Big Ten Championship Game? Two things happened on that day. We learned that Justin Fields could falter versus a good team and the Buckeyes could win anyway. We also learned that Trey Sermon wasn’t just good. He can truly be exceptional if his team needs him to churn out big yards when the passing game struggles.

These days, NFL teams would be wise to employ committee systems at the tailback position. Sure, it’s nice to have three-down backs, but with the way these guys are punished, it’s good to give them a rest from time to time as well.

Sermon split time with some great backs at Ohio State, so he doesn’t have a ton of wear and tear. That’s a good thing. If paired with Miles Sanders, the Philadelphia Eagles can ensure their star tailback is healthy all year round as well. That would be a good thing also. We’ll have to wait and see if Sermon is someone the Birds are thinking about.
