2019: OT Andre Dillard, Philadelphia Eagles

In 2018, Howie Roseman packaged the Eagles’ 2018 first and fourth-round selections in exchange for Baltimore’s 2018 second and fourth-round selections and a second-round pick in 2019. As a result, there is no first-round pick to evaluate in 2018.

We’re two years into the career of Andre Dillard and he is already in danger of being relegated to a backup. He struggled as a rookie, had a poor 2020 training camp, and tore his bicep before the regular season even started. Needless to say, Dillard has faced some hardships as an Eagle.

The rise of Jordan Mailata has only added to these hardships.

Mailata was in danger of being cut just a training camp ago, but the team ultimately kept him, and they should be thankful that they did. He was one of the only bright spots in a miserable 2020 season.

As the Eagles enter the 2021 season, there will likely be a training camp battle for the left tackle position. The Birds are unlikely to pull the plug on their first-round pick from just two years ago, but at the end of the day, they have an obligation to put the best football on the field.

Mailata is a year and a half younger than Dillard and has played much better than the Washington State product has. If Dillard doesn’t prove his value soon, he’ll find himself on the bench or even on another team. Roseman seems to have whiffed on this first sound selection. Grade: D+
