player. 54. . . . Elijah Holyfield. 5

How many Philadelphia Eagles fans forgot Holyfield was on the team?

The Georgia Bulldogs are synonymous with running back talent. That’s not an exaggeration, but it isn’t a guarantee that their prospects will hit the bullseye in the NFL either.

Elijah Holyfield appeared in 27 career games at the collegiate level for the Dawgs and, in the process, racked up 1,340 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 215 career attempts. Yes, that’s a career average of over six yards per rush, but so far, none of that has translated to the professional level.

This son of the former boxing heavyweight champion, Evander Holyfield, has yet to notch his first career carry, but after going undrafted in 2019 and after being given up on by the Carolina Panthers after his first training camp, one has to wonder what’s going on.

That’s especially true after watching what’s happened with the Eagles as a team that has been desperate for running back help but has moved Holyfield back and forth from the active roster to the practice squad.

He seems to be talented, but he isn’t getting any chances. That’s a red flag, and it can’t be denied.
