Well, the Philadelphia Eagles were sold on Jalen Hurts after all.

It appears that Philly had confidence in Jalen Hurts after all. Much of the fan base and media went back and forth about whether or not the Eagles should spend the sixth pick on a quarterback, but the best option is looking at some other positions as the decision is made on how to use that first-round selection.

Heck, this team just used a second-round pick on a quarterback in 2020. That sort of hints at the theory that they’re invested, and let’s be honest. Four career starts, including a game the Philadelphia Eagles obviously weren’t trying to win, isn’t enough of a case study to see if Hurts is the guy or not.

Eventually, you have to fix things and stop applying band-aids. The Eagles need to coach up the guys that they have, put some pieces around and in front of Jalen Hurts and see what happens.

Again, don’t be surprised if there’s a run on quarterbacks early, especially with the San Francisco 49ers trading up into the third draft position. Then, with teams like the New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Carolina Panthers picking ahead of Philly, it’s probably safe to say that we can give up on guys like Trey Lance and Justin Fields being realistic options for an Eagles team that’s selecting twelfth.
