The Philadelphia Eagles move Zach Ertz to jump 11 spots forward.

The Philadelphia Eagles and Zach Ertz marriage is stale. Come NFL Draft weekend the Eagles might be desperate to move Ertz if he is not already off the roster by then and Patrick Jones II is an intriguing defensive end the Eagles could look to snag.

In this mock the Eagles 70th pick is gone, so the team uses pick 84 and Ertz to move up with the Carolina Panthers to acquire the 73rd pick and a fourth-round pick in 2022.

The Eagles view the offensive and defensive lines as two of the most important positions on the football field and it would not be a shocker to see them pick an edge rusher within the first three rounds.

The Panthers are devoid of tight end talent and could look to add a reliable target for new QB Sam Darnold. Ertz definitely fits the bill.

For the Eagles, Jones is the perfect 4-3 defensive end with the powerful rush ability and strong run-stuffing talent. For Pitt, Jones racked up 17.5 sacks in his final two seasons with 24 tackles for loss.

Jones has a high ceiling and definitely has the potential to fill Brandon Graham’s shoes once they leave the building.

So, the Eagles leave the first three rounds gaining Jaycee Horn, Terrace Marshall, Patrick Jones II, and a 2022 fourth-round pick, but give up an aged Zach Ertz and several picks. Horn, Marshall, and Jones all have high ceilings and trading away draft assets and Ertz for these three talents would prove to be stellar moves to reset this roster toward success.
