Philadelphia Eagles draft: Ranking top 3 first-round WRs after Chase
By Smit Bajaj
The Philadelphia Eagles still have a few solid options in the first round.
Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith is a name to keep an eye on during the draft. Even though he had a brilliant career and had an absolutely dominant season for the Crimson Tide in 2020, his frame and weight are still a topic, and that may cause him to fall.
For the Philadelphia Eagles, however, this may be a blessing in disguise. The team could still land one of their top prospects after trading down six spots.
Smith treats the wide receiver position like an art form. He’s surgical in his routes and has an unbelievable feel for the game which allows him to create massive amounts of separation. The Alabama product is also dangerous after the catch as seen by anyone who’s taken a peek at his college film.
170 pounds is not an ideal weight for a wideout in the NFL, but Smith has the tools to overcome that. If he does in fact slide to the 12th pick, the Eagles need to give him a serious look. He has the talent to truly elevate Philadelphia’s offense.
