850. . Cornerback. Gamecocks . Jaycee Horn. 12. player

Jaycee Horn would be a perfect first-round selection for the Philadelphia Eagles.

While Darius Slay comfortably possesses the number one cornerback slot, there is a huge hole at the second cornerback position. Jim Schwartz put Avonte Maddox on the outside last year, but his five-foot-nine frame did not fare well against bigger and more physical receivers.

As it stands today, the cornerback depth chart is looking something like Darius Slay, Michael Jacquet, Avonte Maddox, Craig James, and a few more defensive backs who are longshots to make the final roster. The front office cannot feel comfortable with rolling out Jacquet or Maddox on the outside next year.

It’s becoming clear that the Eagles plan on drafting a cornerback in the first or second round of the draft. Meetings with second-round wide receiver prospects Kadarius Toney and Terrace Marshall seem to indicate that the team will target a cornerback in the first round and a wide receiver in the second.

If the Eagles do in fact draft a first-round cornerback, Patrick Surtain II and Jaycee Horn are both phenomenal options. With Surtain unlikely to fall to pick 12, Horn is the pick here. He may be considered as the second-best cornerback in this draft, but he has a real shot of turning into the best defensive player of his class.

Horn is tall, physical, and has impressive ball skills. We recently released an article detailing why he’d be a perfect fit for the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s extremely exciting to imagine him in midnight green lining up opposite Darius Slay.
