Can the Philadelphia Eagles take the measure of the champs in 2021?

The last time the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl, they had to vanquish the Philadelphia Eagles to get there, and they did so rather convincingly, dominating the Birds en route to a 27-10 smackdown in what would be the final game played at Veteran’s Stadium in Philadelphia.

Almost eight months later, they met in Week 1 of the 2003 season as Tampa smacked Philly around in their new stadium, Lincoln Financial Field. Well, looky here. The NFC East’s teams meet the NFC South’s team in 2021, and that means, as they did many moons ago, the Philadelphia Eagles will host the World Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a home game at the Linc during the season that followed the Bucs’ championship run.

The Birds have beaten Tom Brady twice, once in the regular season (December 6th of 2015) and once in the postseason (Super Bowl LII). This one has ‘primetime’ written all over it, especially seeing as how the Bucs will probably be awarded five primetime games after their Super Bowl victory.

In the red corner, you have Tom Brady and the Bucs. In the blue corner, you have the upstart Eagles. It’s an NFC matchup between two very popular teams. What more could the NFL schedule makers ask for with this one?
