54. . . . Trevon Grimes, wide receiver. . player

The Philadelphia Eagles have a stud in Trevon Grimes. Period.

While at Florida with the Gators, Trevon Grimes always had to prove himself around NFL-level talent, but if you’re wondering why there’s a mini-buzz growing around this guy or you’re confused as to why Philly brought him in as an undrafted free agent, you need only one exercise to make it all make sense.

Go to YouTube, and watch Grimes’ 50-yard touchdown catch and run versus Patrick Surtain II in the most recent SEC Championship Game. That should clear it all up for you.

Grimes is a six-foot-four, 218-pound wide receiver prospect that is, in all honesty, everything that JJ Arcega-Whiteside was supposed to be. After hauling in three receptions during two games for the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2017, he transferred to Florida, and the lightswitch really came on.

Try 97 receptions for 1,444 yards and 14 trips to the end zone in 36 games on for size. In addition to DeVonta Smith, JJAW, and Grimes, Philly has Quez Watkins, Khalil Tate, Greg Ward, Jalen Reagor, John Hightower, Jhamon Ausbon, and Travis Fulgham on their roster at the wide receiver position.

Not only does Grimes have the potential to leapfrog most of those guys. He could wind up starting opposite of Smith somewhere down the road. If you’re looking for an undrafted free agent to cheer for, this is your guy. He’s that good. Who knows why he didn’t get drafted.
