How will the Philadelphia Eagles defense handle Justin Herbert?

Los Angeles Chargers signal-caller Justin Herbert didn’t just walk through the door of the NFL. He kicked it down, set the carpet on fire, and spraypainted his name all over the walls.

For Philly, this will be their first crack at last season’s NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. The Chargers QB1 threw for over 4,000 yards and notched 31 touchdowns in 2020, and based on what we’ve all seen, a sophomore slump doesn’t appear to be in the cards in year two. You never know though.

Both the Chargers and Birds feel like they’re at least a year or two away from making some major noise. That isn’t a given. It’s really just a guess, but you can see where it comes from.

In this one, the theory is both teams will move the ball pretty easily and with some regularity. Still, in the end, the Chargers’ defense will make one or two more stops than Philly’s will. That will be the difference.

Throw in a turnover by the Eagles offense, and we’ll call this one a hard-fought loss in a high-scoring affair that will have Philadelphia Eagles fans stressed out until the final whistle and disappointed at the end.

Final score: Chargers 30, Eagles 23 (2021-2022 Eagles record: 4-5)
