Philadelphia Eagles defense will need Darius Slay to be near perfect this year.
The Philadelphia Eagles front office made a bold move trading for cornerback Darius Slay before the 2020 season. While Slay was a solid presence week-in and week-out, he never had the effect fans had hoped for.
The former All-Pro has all the tools to be one of the best cornerbacks in all of football, so fans can hope to see a better version of the former Mississippi State Bulldog. The Eagle’s defense could really use that early and often this season.
This offseason saw a few upgrades for the defense, but not at the one spot fans had wished they’d see it. The addition of Anthony Harris, Eric Wilson, and Ryan Kerrigan should be a big boost to the Birds roster, but if Philly hopes to have any type of success, they will need to see Darius Slay be the defensive back we all know he can be.
The defense starts and ends with the front seven, and the additions to the roster should really help with that. If Slay can show his true colors, the defense could be dominant.
