. . JJ Arcega-Whiteside, wide receiver. 1. player. 54.

JJAW couldn’t possibly wind up on the Philadelphia Eagles roster again, could he?

By the time JJ Arcega-Whiteside’s run with the Philadelphia Eagles is over, which could be this September, he’ll have the possibility of being known as one of the more disappointing draft picks in franchise history. Yep, we’re talking Shawn Andrews, Mike Mamula, Michael Haddix, and Leroy Keyes territory.

The problem JJAW has is his legacy won’t end once he’s gone. He’ll continue to be mentioned long after his exit because of who he was taken ahead of. Every time D.K. Metcalf gets in the end zone or notches another individual accolade, Birds fans will be reminded of what could have been, and the JJAW thoughts will recycle again.

Sure, at this point, comparing the two is unfair.  JJ Arcega-Whiteside enters his third season in Eagles green, and there’s really no nice way of saying this. If you’re still expecting him to become what we were promised, you’re fooling yourselves.

He’s never going to become what we were promised, and the only reason he’s still here is because of where he was selected. Philly’s got to make a decision though. Do they want to be better or do they want to be right? Let’s hope it isn’t the latter. Unfortunately, they’ve painted themselves into a corner, and if they can’t dupe some team into trading for this guy, it may be time to accept defeat and cut their losses.
