Steven Nelson has been a popular name amongst Philadelphia Eagles fans.

If you ask just about any Philadelphia Eagles fan their thoughts on what this roster is missing, more than likely you will hear that a second cornerback is the most popular choice. Former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Steven Nelson is arguably the best available free agent left on the market at that position. One need only look at his talent.

The five-foot-eleven 195-pound DB has been a solid addition to every roster he has been on. He’s never been seen as a shutdown corner per see, but he has everything coaches look for in the National Football League. He’s scrappy, athletic, and blessed with the football intelligence a cover man needs to be successful.

The Philadelphia Eagles defense has a star in cornerback Darius Slay, but the idea of adding Nelson opposite him would make any fan excited. The addition of safety Anthony Harris was a great step in the right direction for this secondary, but the Eagles need to bring in another talent to help this passing defense take another step forward. Free-agent Steven Nelson would be the perfect investment for a team looking to add youth and compete at the same time.
