Philadelphia Eagles 53-man roster: The defensive ends (5)

Brandon Graham, Derek Barnett, Josh Sweat, Ryan Kerrigan, Tarron Jackson

Another strong group for the team, the edge rushers on the Eagles vary from a rookie, two players ideally entering their primes, and two veterans. There is quite the diversity at the end position.

Barnett and Sweat are playing with something to prove in a contract year, but one might wonder how many snaps there are to go around. It’s a good problem to have, but still a problem nonetheless.

Sweat appears ready to handle a starting workload, but his number of snaps has been limited ever since he arrived in Philadelphia. Howie Roseman won’t want to pay him starting DE money without seeing him as a true starter.

Barnett has been mediocre in his tenure with the Eagles and certainly hasn’t lived up to his first-round bill. A decision will need to be made with him at the end of the year. Kerrigan will provide good depth and a veteran presence in the locker room as well.

To summarize, the position is talented and hungry for snaps in 2021, but the future of the position appears shaky. Still, the team should be excited to see what this group has to offer.
