This Philadelphia Eagles defense is shaping up to be great.

The Philadelphia Eagles defense, under new defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, is on to something big and could be very easily a top-ten unit. From the defensive line to a much-improved second level and secondary, this team could put some fear into opposing offenses.

Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave, Josh Sweat, Derek Barnett, Ryan Kerrigan, and of course, Brandon Graham make up the defensive line, and that alone is enough to make offenses tremble. In the secondary, there’s Darius Slay, Rodney McLeod, Steve Nelson, and Anthony Harris. That could be the ingredients for total lockdown.

On paper, this linebacker unit is one of the most solid in the Nation Football League. Each player complements another, and that’s, in large part, thanks to the newer defensive schemes cooked up by Gannon.

The Birds defense was solid for the most part last year but had a lot of glaring holes. GM Howie Roseman did a solid job fixing some of the areas this offseason, and with Gannon’s scheme, fans should be excited to see the defense take the field.
