With Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert both in need of a contract extension this upcoming offseason, the future of the Philadelphia Eagles tight end position is in jeopardy. Contract negotiations have stalled.
Goedert also was rumored to be in trade talks with the Minnesota Vikings, according to Matt Lombardo of FanSided, which would suggest the Eagles are not totally committed to the fourth-year vet.
The lack of an extension for both Ertz and Goedert could suggest that one or both of them could be traded during the season, however, the Birds need to realize the raw talent they have In Goedert before they consider trades for him.
While Ertz is and always will be an Eagles legend, Goedert is both younger and more physical. He also has yet to enter his prime. The Eagles love to utilize their tight ends in the offense, so locking up a top-ten player at the position could benefit second-year QB Jalen Hurts and ensure the long-term future of this team is healthy.
