Philadelphia Eagles studs from Week 1

Javon Hargrave, defensive tackle

Once upon a time, Fletcher Cox was seen as the second-best defensive tackle in football behind Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams. That’s no longer the case, and if Javon Hargrave continues the ascent that he’s on, Cox may not be the best defensive tackle on his own team for much longer.

Hargrave’s day began with two amazing plays versus the run on the San Francisco 49ers’ first two offensive series. He’s clearly been the Birds’ best player on defense through the first two weeks of the season.

Jordan Mailata, left tackle

So far, so good for Jordan Mailata as the Australian continues to get better. He was bulldozed by Nick Bosa on one sack, but come on. It’s Nick Bosa.

For the most part, Mailata held his own, and that’s saying something. Week 2 was a huge test for Jordan Mailata, and if you’re inclined to give him anything less than a B+, it may be time to get those eyes checked. It was a solid performance overall by the starting left tackle.
