. . . Ryan Kerrigan, defensive end. 90. player. 54

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Ryan Kerrigan

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Ryan Kerrigan is still on this football team, and even though it may not seem like it, he’s played a lot more than you probably thought that he had. Believe it or not, he’s been on the field for 67 total defensive snaps in 2021. That equates to 49 percent of the Eagles’ total in Week 1 and 46 percent of their total defensive snaps in Week 2.

That isn’t what the Birds were expecting when they handed him a one-year deal on May 17th. That deal will pay him $2,500,000. That includes a $1,425,000 signing bonus and $1,425,000 guaranteed. Sure, it won’t break the bank, and if the arrangement doesn’t work, Philly can cut ties without losing much.

Still, this team has to want more out of Kerrigan than they’ve gotten. In 19 career games versus the Philadelphia Eagles, Ryan Kerrigan has 63 total tackles, 13.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, and an interception on his NFL resume. As a member of the good guys, after two games, he has yet to register a single defensive snap.

Perhaps Philly should have known that something was up when the Washington Football Team gave up on him during this most recent offseason.
