Jalen Hurts’ mobility in and out of the pocket will help unlock a downfield attack.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts once again proved that it pays to have a QB that can use his legs to extend plays and pick up extra yardage when necessary. He paced the Eagles with 82 rushing yards on the day and is naturally gifted enough to continue doing so when the Birds rushing attack needs a bit of a boost.

The uber-athletic QB is rather dangerous on bootlegs and rollouts and forces the defense to always account for his mobility, as was the case on a number of his rushing attempts. As a matter of fact, where the second-year man might be at his best is when the play breaks down and he is forced out of the confines of the pocket.

Take his longest scramble of the day, for example, a 27-yard scamper that resulted in a net gain of 42 yards because of an unnecessary roughness penalty levied upon San Francisco’s Jimmie Ward.

He was able to move the chains on the previous play in much the same way by escaping the pocket to his right and running out of bounds but not before picking up the first down. The Oklahoma product knows exactly how to manipulate the defense with his legs.
