Philadelphia Eagles that must be moved before NFL trade deadline
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside
Seriously, why is JJ Arcega-Whiteside still here? Because he can block and he hauled in a touchdown pass at the end of the final preseason game? Correct us if we’re wrong, but one of the Eagles’ important pieces (and a former second-round selection) shouldn’t have been playing that late in the third preseason game anyway, right?
All of those stories that you heard about JJ Arcega-Whiteside improving were lies. He hasn’t gotten any better, and he isn’t improving. He never has.
After a blistering rookie season in which he hauled in ten receptions for 169 yards and a touchdown, JJAW racked up 85 yards on four snags a season ago during eight in-game appearances.
Four regular-season games have gone by in 2021. Arcega-Whiteside has been on the field for 39 snaps, roughly 15 percent of the team’s total, and the most memorable thing that he’s done was commit a personal foul penalty that took a touchdown off of the board.
His position coach, Aaron Moorehead, should take some of the blame for the fact that his receivers are either stuck in neutral or regressing, but it never happens. JJ is a different animal though. He just isn’t that good.
You’re probably thinking ‘who would take this guy’, right? Believe it or not folks, he can be dealt to someone. If Mack Hollins and Sidney Jones still have jobs in the NFL, Philly can dump Arcega-Whiteside on someone. At this point, heck, we’ll take a seventh-round draft choice.
