1. Did any Zach Ertz or Eagles fan have any doubt about what number one was?

You probably knew this one was coming before you even clicked on this story to read it, didn’t you? Remember when we were tak=lking about special moments and where we were when they happen? There isn’t a Philadelphia Eagles fan on Planet Earth that doesn’t remember that final go-ahead drive by the Birds in Super Bowl 52.

Ertz had two big catches on that drive. There was a fourth-down conversion from Nick Foles on 4th and one from Philly’s 44 1/2 tard line. That required every ounce of time that Foles had and every part of Ertz’s body.

The final pass of that drive came on 3rd and 7 from the New England Patriots’ 11 1/2 yard line. Foles took the snap from center and didn’t hesitate. He simply tossed one to his left as Ertz ran the slant pattern of his life, and again, there isn’t an Eagles fan walking that doesn’t remember 86 diving onto the end zone.

In a game that was littered with memorable moments (Alshon Jeffery’s pirouette in the end zone, Rodney McLeod’s stop on third down and the subsequently missed field goal by New England, The Philly Special, Corey Clement’s toe-tap in the back of the end zone, and, of course, the greatest strip-sack in NFL history), none of those moments mean anything if Ertz doesn’t make that catch on fourth down or score on that go-ahead touchdown.

That’s, without question, what every Eagles fan will think about when they think about Ertz. He’ll be missed, but don’t worry. His spot in the Eagles Hall of Fame and eventually Canton, Ohio is secure. We love you 86!
