Philadelphia Eagles top 5 storylines after six weeks of the regular season
The Philadelphia Eagles have a solid duo at receiver for years to come.
Most Philly fans were relieved when the Eagles selected DeVonta Smith during the most recent draft instead of going the route of taking some other prospects that general manager Howie Roseman could have added. Unfortunately, Smith’s production and his ceiling, as of now, are being limited by his quarterback’s play and his coach’s play-calling.
Smith has been every bit of the player that fans had hoped for, but he isn’t this team’s best receiver yet. That distinction belongs to 2020 sixth-round draft pick Quez Watkins. He’s been making a name for himself throughout this season. Watkins had a great camp, and it has translated nicely to the regular season.
With just a hair shy of 700 receiving yards between the two, there is a possible chance for the Eagles to have two 1000-yard receivers this year. This is something that fans should be thankful for. Both of these young players can shine bright for this team, and as we have already seen, they can bail this team out of some offensive slumps as well.
There are still plenty of games left. It will be interesting to see which one of these two will wind up leading this team in receiving.
