Philadelphia Eagles trade proposal number 2: The Eagles get a young LB

The Philadelphia Eagles’ lack of interest in stabilizing the linebacker position is a narrative that has seemingly been a topic of conversation since Buddy Ryan left town. Sure, they’ve found a guy here and there (Jeremiah Trotter, Jordan Hicks, Nigel Bradham for a while), but more often than not, there’s been constant change at the position.

The holes in the Eagles defense are glaring, and Birds fans everywhere have been praying that this team adds a few guys that can drive a wedge in the revolving door at the second level of their defense.

Andre Dillard, the Eagles’ first-round draft choice in 2019, has started four games in 2021, but with Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson both available now, it’s back to the bench he goes.

The Eagles also have Jack Driscoll and Brett Toth in the mix, both of whom can play the guard and tackle position. They also have offensive tackle Le’Raven Clark and guard/tackle hybrid Kayode Awosika on the practice squad. Dare we say, the man we originally thought would be the heir to Jason Peters (Dillard) is now the expendable party?

The Baltimore Ravens have a few things to think about with their offense. On top of everything that has gone on at the running back position for them, they just lost All-Pro left tackle, Ronnie Stanley, for the season. Might they be buyers at the deadline?

Let’s hope so because these two teams could definitely help each other out. How about this? What if the Eagles send Dillard to Baltimore for a young linebacker prospect Malik Harrison? We doubt they’d give up Tyus Bowser, Patrick Queen, or Odafe Oweh.

Then, to sweeten the pot some, Philly and Baltimore swap the Eagles’ sixth-round draft choice in 2022 for one of what might be five fourth-rounders for the Ravens in 2022’s NFL Draft. The Ravens currently have their own and two they received from the Arizona Cardinals and the New York Giants. Not only that but they may be awarded two compensatory picks for Matthew Judon and Yannick Ngakoue as well. They should have plenty of picks as bargaining chips.
