5 Philadelphia Eagles trending up heading into Week 9 versus Chargers
Philadelphia Eagles running back Boston Scott
At this point, it’s easy to ask questions about what in you know what the Philadelphia Eagles are doing at practice. How did they forget that Boston Scott was on the team?
We know this is a young coaching staff. Maybe they knew nothing about this team when they showed up, but this isn’t college football either. There aren’t 25 new scholarship athletes showing up every Spring.
Boston Scott has been a part of this team since 2018, and the Eagles, a team that didn’t bring a ton of running backs into camp, definitely didn’t bring any running backs in to compete for jobs that we didn’t already know.
In the end, they only carried three running backs on the roster, and regardless of how many times we discussed the need to run the ball and put the best playmakers on the field, week after week, there sat Boston Scott on the bench, but hey, what are you going to do? There’s no use in crying over spilled milk now.
We expected there to be a learning curve with a young coaching staff. What we didn’t expect was for them to have to take so long to figure out who the playmakers are. They’ve ignored Miles Sanders, Jordan Howard, and Boston Scott. Meanwhile, JJ Arcega-Whiteside continues to get playing time. That’s simply inexcusable.
Scott’s gotten a few more looks recently, and we love seeing that. We loved seeing him reach the end zone twice in Week 8. Philly seems to have found something. Let’s see if it continues because, trust and believe, that heading into Week 9, Scott’s stock is rising as is Howard’s. There’s no need to overthink this. Feed these guys the ball.
