Philadelphia Eagles Week 12 studs

Alex Singleton, linebacker

He can be exposed from time to time. He can miss tackles and overpursue, but Alex Singleton is still one of the better players on this Eagles defense. He added 12 tackles, including eight of the solo variety and three for a loss of yardage, to his season total in Week 12.

Derek Barnett, defensive end

We clobber him when he screws up. We have to give him credit when he plays well. Derek Barnett came up with a nice tackle for loss following Jalen Hurts’ third interception of the day. That earned him two on the afternoon. In total, he had five stops including four solo stops and, most importantly, no penalties.

Boston Scott, running back

He was robbed of a touchdown by his teammate, Nate Herbig. His fumble was a killer, but Boston Scott played his arse off. The legend of the Giant Killer continues. Unfortunately, it now has a chapter we may not want to read.

Most of you would probably place Scott on the duds list after this one, and arguments can be made for that. He’s on the other side of this list for one reason. The Birds wouldn’t have had a shot late without him.

Avonte Maddox, cornerback

Call us crazy, but each week, Avonte Maddox proves he’s one of the better players on this Eagles defense.

Jonathan Gannon, defensive coordinator

As we stated in terms of Derek Barnett, we have to give credit when it’s due, especially when we hammer Jonathan Gannon so often (and deservedly so). There were some tense moments with those Eagles defense (as always), but his unit kept the Birds in this one.
