Philadelphia Eagles 2022 NFL Draft prospects: George Karlaftis

At six-foot-four and 275 pounds, even if you didn’t know who George Karlaftis was, if he walked into the room that you were in, you might assume that he was in the NFL already. Guys from the respected Purdue Boilermakers program seem to give off that vibe.

Karlaftis enjoyed his best season from a statistical standpoint in 2019, notching 54 total tackles including 30 of the solo variety and 17 that resulted in a loss of yardage to go along with 7.5 sacks, two pass breakups, and a forced fumble. 2021 was quite the statistical masterpiece as well. He stuck his head in on 39 total tackles (28 were of the solo variety and ten resulted in a loss).

He also notched two forced fumbles, four pass breakups, 4.5 sacks, and a defensive touchdown. He could stand to get a little stronger for the next level and his ability as a pass rusher is ahead of his talent as a run defender. That can be improved upon though.

He’ll be mentioned among the top five defensive ends on just about everyone’s draft board and should hear his name called in Round 1 like Jermaine Johnson. Might the Philadelphia Eagles be interested?
