Jalen Hurts’ best and worst throws versus Giants in Week 16

Best throws:

With each passing week, Jalen Hurts continues to improve as a passer. We’ve all questioned the accuracy of his deep ball, so seeing his bomb to Dallas Goedert in Week 14 as well as 46-yard and 40-yard completions to DeVonta Smith and Quez Watkins respectively in Week 16 are three very encouraging signs.

Place those last two completions on a list of his best throws from Week 15 along with a 3rd-and-five completion in the second quarter with a little over 10:10 remaining to Smith. The Birds were struggling on offense to that point, and that toss and catch gave Philly some much-needed energy seeing as how the Giants had just booted a field goal to take a 3-0 lead.

Jake Elliott would miss from 41 yards to end the drive, but it was nice to see Hurts climb the pocket, find an open area, and make the appropriate throw. Elliott would make amends on the next drive with a 22-yard boot, but that was preceded by what might have been Jalen Hurts’ worst throw of the afternoon, other than an interception on 3rd and three during the Eagles first drive that, fortunately, got overturned.

Worst throw:

With 2:13 remaining in the first half, Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense are set up with 3rd and goal from just inside the Giants five-yard line. Hurts, with a clean pocket, may not have known that he had as much time as he did.

The play concludes with a quick pass on what looks like his first read to Quez Watkins who was covered well and short of the goal line. Quez is stopped immediately, leading to the field goal attempt, but what’s worse is he missed a wide-open Dallas Goedert in the back right-hand corner of the end zone.
