Jalen Hurts’ best throws in Week 17

As mentioned earlier, QB1 Jalen Hurts was efficient. He attempted 26 passes and connected on 17 of them. Now, while that may not knock anyone’s socks off, the eyeball test, if you weren’t keeping up with his completion percentage or waiting for him to rack up some Fantasy points, was very pleasing.

When NFL Films crafts those team yearbooks that they put together every offseason, two throws from this game that were made by Philadelphia’s QB1 have to be in the finished product. One came in the first half. The other came in the second. The first TD toss came early, on the Eagles’ first drive to be exact.

Following an opening march by Washington that led to seven points, Hurts delivered a pretty ball on 2nd and ten from Philly’s own 25-yard line to DeVonta Smith who found some open space at about the 42-yard line and turned upfield for about 12 more yards. Philly would later be stopped on fourth down on the same drive, but that was a big play early.

Anyone looking for a microcosm of how good Hurts was however need only look at the Eagles’ first drive in the second half. Trailing 16-7 and facing 3rd and 14 with a little over ten minutes remaining in the third quarter, Jalen evaded pressure (twice) escaped to his right, and delivered one across his body to Greg Ward.

That reception moved the ball from the Washington 31-yard line to inside Washington’s five-yard line. More importantly, that set up the Eagles’ second touchdown of the game and narrowed the deficit from nine points to two.
