It took too long to get some of the Eagles’ best players on the field.

Okay, no one else felt like it took too long to get Jordan Howard on the field? No one else is wondering why Jalen Reagor gets more playing time than Greg Ward or why the Birds are obsessed with a ‘blocking wide receiver’?

We’ve heard of blocking tight ends. That actually makes sense, but having a wide receiver on the field to serve primarily as a blocker? Who’s heard of that?

Of course, we’re talking about JJ Arcega-Whiteside. We’ve watched him for three seasons. Why is he still here?

Why is it that Reagor keeps lining up to return punts? Why do the Eagles keep trying that jet sweep with him in the lineup? Okay, we get it. The Eagles invested draft capital and a lot of money into JJAW and Reagor and even some of the new guys like Ryan Kerrigan.

Here’s the thing though. Regardless of the fact that Boston Scott was a sixth-round draft choice that Philly got off of the New Orleans Saints practice squad, and Ward was an undrafted quarterback that converted to wide receiver and T.J. Edwards went undrafted in 2019, these are some of the best players that the Eagles have.

It took too long to get these guys on the field and had they done so earlier, this team may have won a few more games. Being a good and competitive football team has to be more important than being right about potential busts that this team acquired on draft day and during the free agency period.
