Potential Eagles prospect Ahmad ‘Sauce’ Gardner, cornerback

After watching this team trot Ronald Darby out and onto the field for far too long and after watching them try to get blood out of a few roster turnips like Orlando Scandrick, Nickell Robey-Coleman, and Michael Jacquet, there was massive support for the Eagles taking a cornerback in the 2020 and 2021 NFL Drafts. It appears that the Eagles disagreed.

With ten picks in 2020, they completely ignored the position, and in the most recent draft in 2021, it was certain they’d invest a high draft choice in adding one. Instead, they waited until Round 4 to select Zech McPhearson. Sure, he’s young, but so far, that decision hasn’t produced any real fruit.

If the Birds decided to utilize one of those three first-rounders on an elite cover guy, you wouldn’t
hear any complaints. If they don’t take some serious steps to find a true outside corner in 2022 that can step in and start from day one, that’s going to cause some major issues.

Ahmad ‘Sauce’ Gardner is a name that you’ll hear more often as draft time approaches. He’d look good in an Eagles jersey, but when you begin to think about this, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen. His stock will rise, and both he and Derek Stingley will probably be off of draft boards by the time Philly is on the clock to make their first selection.
