93. player. 54. . . . Milton Williams, defensive tackle

Here’s an announcement for Eagles fans everywhere. Milton Williams is special!

If you’ve been paying attention to this team and watching what this defense has done under the much-maligned Jonathan Gannon, the process of elimination should have told you that Milton Williams‘ name would be the last one added to this list of potential breakout candidates.

Playing behind Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave as the Eagles’ third defensive tackle should tell you that the six-foot-three, 290-pound Williams won’t be starting. Still, after watching this young man improve all season as a member of what’s becoming a stellar rotation at the position, you should be excited about his potential, and Philadelphia’s coaching staff should look for ways to get him on the field as often as possible.

Did we mention that he can slide outside and play defensive end if needed?

Trending. 4 QBs in the draft the Eagles must avoid. light

Williams racked up 30 total tackles while appearing in 17 regular-season games and making two starts. That includes 15 tackles of the solo variety and six stops that resulted in a loss of yardage. Add that to two pass breakups, two sacks, and six additional hits on the opposing team’s signal-caller. Yep, this young man is going to be fun to watch for years to come, and it all begins with a breakout season in 2022.

Write it down. That’s the prediction. You aren’t going to talk us out of it. The sky’s the limit as long as the Eagles coaching staff puts him in positions to be successful.
