5 Philadelphia Eagles who are primed for breakout seasons in 2022
Luckily for the Eagles, Davion Taylor seems to be turning the corner.
One of the most intriguing players that we’ll be watching during the 2022-2023 Philadelphia Eagles season is Davion Taylor. Due to his family’s religious beliefs, he was unable to play high school football, but with his mother’s blessing, after his 18th birthday, he got the nod to sign on with Coahoma Community College before transferring to the University of Colorado. That’s when he popped up on the Eagles’ radar.
This six-foot-one, 230-pound speedster proved to be a quick study of the game as he became a star on the Buffaloes defense, racking up 129 tackles, six pass breakups, and two sacks in 24 career games at the NCAA level in Boulder.
The Eagles made him the 103rd-overall selection, during Round 3 of 2020’s NFL Draft. The game proved to be too fast for him in year one, but after slowly earning the trust of a new coaching staff, his playing time picked up in year two. He appeared to be turning the corner before a knee injury led him to the injured reserve on November 24th.
Year three should tell the tale. The game has slowed down. Taylor, already having the physical gifts, has an opportunity to prove that he’s mastering the game mentally. From what we saw the last time we watched him play, we’re ready to say that shouldn’t be a problem. Expect some nice strides in 2022.
