4 Philadelphia Eagles who don’t deserve another season in 2022
Jackson occupies a roster spot the Eagles could use for someone else.
Sure, with his size, it’s nice to fantasize about seeing him haul in possession catches on third down and touchdown grabs in the red zone, but the biggest story coming out of his first season in the City of Brotherly Love involved a torn ACL that he suffered following the first touchdown reception of his career, one that came on a shovel pass from Gardner Minshew.
If the Eagles were already a contender, Jackson might be a nice feather in the cap, but seeing as how they’re still trying to build a winner, the best course of action would be to add a traditional tight end as opposed to trying to teach a former quarterback how to play the position.
If there were plans to occasionally line Jackson up in the wildcat formation and use him as a run/pass threat option, this might be interesting. Seeing as how that isn’t something the Birds are considering, there isn’t much of a reason to continue this arrangement.
The Eagles can draft a tight end. They can add one on free agency. There isn’t much of a reason to invest tons of time in trying to build a tight end or reinvent the wheel when there are much better options that are already out there.
