. Sammy Watkins, Ravens. . player. 26. .

The Eagles could give Watkins a chance to prove he’s one of the best WRs of his draft class.

Let’s talk about the 2014 NFL Draft class and some of the guys who were taken at the wide receiver position: Odell Beckham Jr., Mike Evans. Jarvis Landry, Davante Adams, Allen Robinson, and Sammy Watkins. That’s a rather impressive list, no?

Watkins has had his moments. At other times, he’s been seen as an afterthought, and even if it may seem like he’s 33 years old, he doesn’t turn 29 until June 14th.

Believe it or not, Watkins was the first wideout taken in 2014’s selection meeting (and the fourth player taken overall), so we’ve always known that he has some ability. He hasn’t played a full season in the NFL since his rookie campaign, and he’s lost a step or two. Still, it’s hard to deny that, the day he’d walk into the NovaCare Complex, he’d be one of the top two players Philly has at the wide receiver position.

In what might wind up being his lone season in Baltimore with the Ravens, he hauled in 27 receptions for 394 yards, and he scored one touchdown, so the argument can be made that he was outplayed by Jalen Reagor (which is scary). Still, if he’s ignored in that first wave of free agency and the Birds can land him for a discount, he’s at least worthy of bringing in for a workout.
