The Eagles double-dip in the SEC’s talent pool on Day 2.

We’ve discussed the Eagles’ lack of respect for the linebacker position before, and you’ve probably already noticed that the selections of Johnson, Linderbaum, and McDuffie mean that the Birds have neglected to ignore the linebacker position in Round 1 for the 43rd-consecutive draft. Consider this your make-up date on Day 2.

Philadelphia adds Christian Harris, formerly of the Alabama Crimson Tide in Round 2. Throw him in a rotation that already features T.J. Edwards and Davion Taylor, and you won’t hear Seth Joyner complain about this unit on Sundays. That’s a promise.

824. . Safety. Terrapins . Nick Cross. 3. player

With Rodney McLeod and Anthony Harris both gone (presumably), adding to the safety position will be a point of emphasis for the Eagles brass. Once we reach Round 3, here’s the assumption.

Kyle Hamilton has long been off of everyone’s draft board. Daxton Hill, Jaquan Brisker, and Jalen Pitre have, more than likely, been taken as well. We aren’t sure of how every team views Bryan Cook and Lewis Cine. Maybe they’re taken in Round 2. Maybe they’re off the board early in Round 3. At this point, everything’s a guess, and we’re guessing they’re gone by the time Philly is on the board to make their final selection on Day 2.

Fear not Birds fans. Nick Cross is the selection in Round 3. He’s six-foot-one. He tips the scales at 210, and with his selection, Philadelphia satisfies their need to add talent at the safety position with a sleeper that will be good for a long time.
