Aggies . Tyree Johnson . 5. player. 873. . EDGE

The Eagles close a solid draft with a trio of solid depth options.

With the Eagles losing two of the top four players from their 2021 defensive end depth chart this offseason (Ryan Kerrigan and Derek Barnett), no one would be upset if they double-dip and land two EDGE stars in the draft. Put an asterisk by Tyree Johnson‘s name. He’s a  six-foot-four, 240-pound monster that just racked 8.5 sacks and a forced fumble playing versus some of the nation’s best talent in the SEC West.

Some say he’s beaten up on bad tackles, but in a rotational role as a designated pass rusher, he could make strides with good coaching.

. Wide receiver. Volunteers . Velus Jones. 5. player. 839

For those of you who like for your wide receivers to possess speed, Velus Jones will place a smile on your face. He had the second-fastest time among his position grouping at the most recent NFL Combine (4.31 seconds), and in a passing offense with DeVonta Smith, Quez Watkins, and Dallas Goedert, he could give defensive coordinators a ton of headaches.

Quarterback. Cyclones . Brock Purdy. 6. player. 837.

Once upon a time, Eagles Chairman/CEO Jeffrey Lurie watched his team win a Super Bowl with a backup quarterback. His value for the position grew on that day, so much so that he expressed to his general manager Howie Roseman that he’d like to see a quarterback taken in every draft.

Howie ignored the boss’s request in 2021. The factory re-opens in 2022. Philadelphia needs some insurance at the position.
