The Philadelphia Eagles add a potential day-one starter and possible Jason Kelce successor on Day 2.

Controversy ruled on Day 2, but in the end, it was a good night. Philly’s putting a ton of faith in these guys.

Cam Jurgens, center (Round 2, Pick 51)

We’ll need to wait at least one year to see if taking a backup center with the intent of stashing him was worth a second-round investment. The hope, by many, was Philly would take a corner or a safety, and as good as Cam Jurgens is and has the potential to be, it’s hard to give this decision an A rating right now.

Stay tuned. That could change down the road once this guy winds up being a perennial All-Pro and Pro Bowler.

Jurgens is good, but finding Kelce’s successor could have waited until next year. We get the logic, but that’s our opinion, and we’re sticking to it. Final grade: B

Nakobe Dean, linebacker (Round 3, Pick 83)

This one doesn’t require a ton of thought. Nakobe Dean was the guy many Eagles fans wanted in Round 1. Landing him in Round 3 puts this one in the running as one of the greatest draft picks this team ever made if it works out.

The Birds got a first-round talent in the third. It doesn’t get any better than that. Arguments about his size don’t seem to matter as much as they did when that’s the case. Grade: A+
