team. 32. . . . Arizona Cardinals.

This game the Eagles have in the desert could prove to be massively important.

The last time the Eagles flew out to Glendale to meet the Arizona Cardinals, things didn’t go their way. They could get some revenge here though. Chances are high that they could walk into this one as favorites on the road.

Following a 10-2 march to open the 2021-2022 NFL season, the Cards seemed to look around and remember that they’re, well, the Arizona Cardinals. They backed into the postseason following four losses in their final five games. They imploded in their loan playoff game. Their offseason, so far, has been, shall we say, interesting… and not for good reasons.

Philly has to kick this team while they’re down. They have to pull out wins in the games they’re supposed to win. A loss here could prove to be massive for an Eagles team that we expect to be smack dab in the middle of a playoff push come December.

First, this one matches them up with an NFC team. Second, if the Birds don’t take the NFC East from the Cowboys, their only way into the postseason is, obviously, by earning a Wild Card berth. Third, if the Los Angeles Rams or San Francisco 49ers take the NFC West’s crown, the Cards figure to be battling with Philly at season’s end for a Wild Card berth of their own.

The last thing the Eagles need is for a loss in Week 5 versus an opponent from the NFC to come back and bite them later, especially when things get tight and we begin discussing what went on in their head-to-head matchups versus the rest of the conference. Highlight this one when you have a moment.
