Jalen Hurts definitely took a step forward in 2021. Can we expect the maturation to continue?

Everywhere you turn, Philadelphia Eagles fans are pondering the continuing theories on whether or not the expectation of a great season by Jalen Hurts is possible. The answers seem to mirror one another. If the third-year quarterback can take the leap and make major strides as a passer, a breakout season could be on the way, and it may come sooner rather than later.

The truth is this. Jalen has already shown us some positive signs during his brief NFL tenure. Some of the Eagles faithful are ready to move on, and if he doesn’t show and prove in 2022, their voices will only grow louder, but let’s not forget. Hurts is still super young.

He’s only 23 years old. His career record as a starter stands at 9-10. He boasts a career completion percentage of 61. He’ll need to improve on that if he wants a longer assignment as the Eagles’ franchise quarterback.

It should be noted that raising his completion percentage from 52 in 2020 to 61 a year ago demonstrates that Jalen can improve. He’s loaded with talent. He’s a legitimate threat as a runner.

He racked up 354 yards rushing and three trips to paydirt as a rookie. He tallied another 784 rushing yards and ten rushing TDs in year two. Is a 1000-yard rushing season out of the realm of possibility? Would that be a sign of success or his failure as a passer? Let’s dig into QB1’s numbers a little further.
