Eagles roster: Top players, most likely cut candidates at each position
Howie Roseman has done a nice job of shaping the roster.
There’s no nice way to say this. If this defense doesn’t go off in 2022, Jonathan Gannon is the issue.
Top three (outside): Kyzir White, Haason Reddick, Davion Taylor
As is the case with T.J. Edwards and Nakobe Dean, it’s pretty obvious that, unless tragedy strikes, Kyzir White, Haason Reddick, and Davion Taylor are locks to make the 53-man roster.
The low men on the depth chart: Christian Elliss, Ali Fayad
We can argue that Kyron Johnson has an inline to make the roster. Then again, Patrick Johnson and JaCoby Stevens have been a part of this team since they were selected during the 2021 NFL Draft. That linebacker battle could be intriguing.
Top three (outside): Darius Slay, James Bradberry, Zech McPhearson
Whenever he was allowed to play in 2021, he wasn’t terrible. Unfortunately, he wasn’t great either.
The low men on the depth chart: Josh Blackwell, Mario Goodrich
Keep an eye on both of these guys. They could rise.
Top three (slot): Avonte Maddox, Josiah Scott, Josh Jobe
Josh Jobe got burned more often than you’d like to see at Alabama. He’s also small, but he has a lot of ability. Keep an eye on him
The low men on the depth chart: Kary Vincent, Mac McCain III
The more we look at the depth chart, the more difficult it becomes to argue these guys onto the 53-man roster. There are a lot of guys that won’t make this team that will wind up playing in other cities. Kary Vincent Jr. and Mac McCain III could be among that bunch.
Top three: Marcus Epps, Jaquiski Tartt, Anthony Harris
The Eagles have seven safeties on the training camp roster. The questions are about whether or not they’ll carry four or five on the 53-man roster.
The low man on the depth chart: Reed Blankenship
Sure, things can change, and anything can happen. Still, right now, it feels like a near-impossible climb for the undrafted rookie, Reed Blankenship, to make the 53-man roster.
