Kary Vincent and Mac McCain are suddenly on the Eagles’ chopping block.

Okay, let’s do a quick headcount. Let’s say the Eagles keep six cornerbacks, a very likely scenario. Darius Slay, James Bradberry, and Avonte Maddox are shoo-ins to earn roster spots. Zech McPhearson, Philly’s fourth-round draft choice in 2021 is probably the fourth guy on the depth chart. Add Jobe and Josiah Scott (someone else who may have already carved his name in stone), and we’re already approaching gridlock with six guys.

Like Kary Vincent, the Eagles grabbed Mac McCain once it was learned that the Denver Broncos had made plans to move on. Like Vincent, he’s appeared in two regular-season games (he made three tackles). Unlike Vincent, McCain didn’t have any hardware to show for his run at the collegiate level. He was also undrafted.

This is McCain’s second stint with the Birds, one that began in 2021 when Philadelphia claimed him off of waivers (the first time, they grabbed him off of Denver’s practice squad). At this point, though no one can make any guarantees, it’s hard to imagine him leap-frogging three guys or more to claim a roster spot.

We’re just being honest.

. . Kary Vincent Jr. . 34. player. 54.

Many have forgotten this, but Kary Vincent Jr. was a member of one of the best college football teams ever assembled, 2019’s LSU Tigers, but this former Bayou Bengal (and member of their College Football Playoff national championship-winning squad) didn’t hear his name called until Round 7 in 2021’s NFL Draft. Not even a year after that, the Denver Broncos traded him to Philly for a sixth-rounder.

He appeared in two games last season and has two tackles on his professional resume. He is by no means safe.
