36. player. 54. . . . Tay Gowan

We may have run out of arguments for placing Tay Gowan on the 53-man roster.

Most of you probably remember Tay Gowan as the guy that came to Philadelphia by way of the trade with the Arizona Cardinals that sent Zach Ertz packing. The Eagles also got a fifth-rounder out of the deal.

That draft selection, the 166th overall, was traded to the Houston Texans. Gowan, since his arrival on October 15th, like McCain and Vincent, has appeared in two games. He’s seen 44 snaps on defense, another 32 on special teams, and for all intents and purposes, appears to be headed to the practice squad… maybe. They could cut ties entirely.

P.S. Why the heck is he wearing Brian Westbrook’s jersey number?

. . . Ugo Amadi. 32. player. 54

Ugo Amadi hasn’t been with the Eagles long, but don’t be shocked if he makes the Eagles’ roster over Vincent, McCain, and Gowan.

Fourth-year man Ugo Amadi is another of the Eagles’ defensive backs. Despite being the most experienced on this list (50 games and 12 starts since 2019 if you count three postseason games), he’s also spent the shortest amount of time in the midnight green.

He arrived by way of the August 15th trade that shipped J.J. Arcega-Whiteside off to the Seattle Seahawks. Six days later, he was on the field and competing in the Eagles’ second preseason game.

How did that go? He tied four other Birds with four tackles. Only three of his teammates had more, and here’s the best part. He looked like he was pretty familiar with what he should have been doing as he made a couple of nice-looking plays while displaying what he can do at the slot cornerback position.

Again, he’s only been here for a week, but when compared to Vincent, McCain, and Gowan, he looks like the one guy on this list most ready to play in a regular-season game. That has to count for something.
