Philadelphia Eagles initial 53-man roster projection after preseason finale
Philadelphia Eagles offensive depth chart projections
Many have asked if the Eagles would consider carrying two quarterbacks or three tailbacks. Upon further review, the answer to both of those questions needs to be yes.
Two quarterbacks: Jalen Hurts and Gardner Minshew
Reid Sinnett and Carson Strong are both left off the 53-man roster.
Three running backs: Miles Sanders, Boston Scott, Kenneth Gainwell
Out: Jason Huntley, Kennedy Brooks
In the end, Jason Huntley and Kennedy Brooks haven’t done enough to deserve a roster spot. Perhaps the waiver wire will produce another addition?
Five wide receivers: A.J. Brown and Zach Pascal (X – primary), DeVonta Smith and Quez Watkins (Y – secondary), Jalen Reagor (Z- slot)
Out: Greg Ward, John Hightower, Deon Cain, Britain Covey, Devon Allen
Philly’s trio at tight end (Noah Togiai and Richard Rodgers are out): Dallas Goedert, Jack Stoll, Grant Calcaterra.
Random thoughts: There’s no need to keep a third quarterback on the 53-man roster. Philly can stash Reid Sinnett on the practice squad without fear of losing them. The Carson Strong experiment is over.
If Calcaterra is healthy, which it appears that he is, he should make this team. He’s the second-best receiving tight end on the Eagles’ roster. Devon Allen has special teams value as a gunner. Maybe we’re being emotional after the past two weeks, but we’d like to see him on the roster. Something tells us that Philly will attempt to sneak him through waivers and place him on the scout team.
The Eagles keep ten offensive linemen.
Left tackles (two): Jordan Mailata, Andre Dillard
Left guards (two): Landon Dickerson, Sua Opeta
Centers (two): Jason Kelce and Cam Jurgens
Right guard (two): Isaac Seumalo, Jack Anderson
Right tackles (two): Lane Johnson and Jack Driscoll
